State of Austin: Entrepreneurship

Austin is the capital city of the U.S. state of Texas and the seat of Travis County.

Where: President's Room, UT Club, 2108 Robert Dedman Drive
Contact: Sarah McCracken [sarah@lbjfoundation.org...]

Last year, Austin was ranked the third best city for young entrepreneurs by Under30CEO.com, coming in just behind New York and San Francisco. In 2009, Fortune named Austin the #8 city for good entrepreneurship opportunities, and Entrepreneur magazine listed Austin as one of the top ten start-up cities in the nation.

Please join us on Thursday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. for State of Austin: Entrepreneurship, a panel discussion on how and why Austin is friendly to entrepreneurs. Panelists include Clayton Christopher, Founder of Sweet Leaf Tea and Deep Eddy Vodka; Josh Baer, Founder of OtherInbox and Capital Factory; and Adam Dell, entrepreneur and parter at Austin Ventures. A reception will follow.

Due to renovations at the LBJ Library, this program will be held in the President's Room at the University of Texas Club, located on the east side of the football stadium on Robert Dedman Drive. Parking is available in Manor Garage for a fee of $3 per hour, or you may park in the LBJ Library visitors' lot and walk. For a map of the area, please click here.

Josh Baer is Founder and CEO of OtherInbox, an email management system, and Managing Director of Capital Factory, a mentoring program for startups that provides a small amount of seed capital and weekly mentoring sessions by entrepreneurs who have founded successful companies.

Clayton Christopher started Sweet Leaf Tea, a line of flavored bottled teas, in 1998 and last year sold it to Nestle Waters North America Inc. He followed on that success with Deep Eddy Vodka, the first flavored vodka product in Texas.

Adam Dell has been a successful entrepreneur and academician, and has more than 12 years of experience in the venture capital industry. He is currently a Venture Partner at Austin Ventures.

Please register online to attend. Non-members will be charged $10 each at the door. We hope to see you there!
