On Monday, September 28, the Future Forum will kick off the fall with a program on sustainable food. Our panelists include David Davenport, President of Capital Area Food Bank; Max Elliott, Urban Roots; and Ronda Rutledge, Executive Director of the Sustainable Food Center. Adrienne Longenecker, Vice President for Community Relations at the Capital Area Food Bank, will serve as our moderator.

As part of the evening, we will collect food for the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB). Please bring healthy, non-perishable items with no glass packaging. Popular items include canned meats like tuna, stew and chili (pop-tops preferred), canned vegetables, pasta & pasta sauce, beans, rice, healthy cereals, peanut butter, and baby food & baby formula.

We will address the following discussion points:

  • Discuss the general sustainability of our food system in Central Texas, Texas, nationally, global.
  • Discuss whether or not the food needs of our community are being met.
  • Help demonstrate current, local programs/organizations addressing food issues, the successes we are having, and where we still have opportunities.

A reception featuring organic and local food will follow the panel discussion. All attendees are encouraged to bring food to donate to CAFB. Non-members without food donations will be charged a $10 guest fee.
