The term Modernism gained currency in the 1930s to describe an era of arts and letters that had its roots in the later part of the nineteenth century and reached its apex in the 1920s. Speed up to the year 2004.

The Future Forum invites members to attend a private showing of Making It New: The Rise of Modernism at the Ransom Center Galleries on the University of Texas at Austin campus on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. The hour-long exhibition tour - led by Ransom Center docents - will explore hundreds of objects arranged in five thematic sections, ranging from art by Picasso to photography by Man Ray to letters from Gertrude Stein. This event is organized by the Cultural Cluster of the Future Forum.

Attendance is limited, so please reply soon. If the list fills up, we will start a waiting list (please reply as 'Maybe" to be put on the waiting list). If you have already responded to the Cultural Cluster, please do not respond again. Well meet in the lobby at UTs Ransom Center, located at the corner of 21st and Guadalupe at 7 p.m. sharp on Wed., Jan. 21. After the exhibition tour, well find a place nearby for food and drink for anyone wishing to continue the evening.
