Doers & Builders
February's Doers and Builders - Leadership Austin
The Future Forum serves as a nexus for Austin's
leaders. Our
members are actively engaged in many organizations.
We encourage you to find out more about these
Doers
and Builders Organizations on our Website.
Leadership Austin connects people to the community
in a way that nothing else can. Now fulfilling its
mission as an independent 501(c)(3) organization, LA
convenes leaders to provide leadership development
and collaborative opportunities to strengthen and
transform our communities.
Leadership Austin was founded to seek out and
prepare leaders for positions of public and private
decision-making to foster community involvement and
the exercise of civic responsibility. The Leadership
Austin Class, youth and open-enrollment programs
are managed and administered by a Board of
Directors composed of LA alumni. Additionally,
countless Leadership Austin alumni and community
leaders contribute their time and expertise to ensure
the success of our programs.
To learn more about Leadership Austin, and about
how you can
get involved,

Upcoming Events
See What we Have in Store
Come join us on February 27th for an event on Hip
Hop. Snoop Daniel of The Beat 104.3 will moderate
what we
are sure will be an interesting discussion on the
history and background of Hip Hop and its
prevalence - and influence - in society today.
Then, in March, we will be hosting two evening
events on
energy. We will send more information soon, but
save March 23rd and March 30th for discussions on
alternate/renewable energy sources.
If you would like to help plan the energy
event, please let us know. We'd love your help.
Senator Joe Biden of Delaware will be speaking to the
Friends of
the LBJ Library on February 22nd at 4PM in the
LBJ Auditorium. Future Forum members are invited to
attend. We know that the time (4PM) may make it
hard for many of you to attend. But, if you would
like to attend, please email
Catherine at catheriner@lbjlib.utexas.edu by
February 17th. We will send you the tickets for the
event.

Future Forum Re-Gift Party
On January 26th, we held our annual Re-Gift Party.
If you don't currently own a cow and bear kitchen
spoon set or a blue jean purse, you must not have
been at the party. We had a variety of gifts - from
the
much sought after First Edition Vince Young trading
card and Rose Bowl progam to the picture frame
making its second Future Forum Re-Gift Party
appearance in as many years.
And, don't forget: we taped the December event,
The Future of Iraq,
so if you missed it and are interested in viewing
it, let
us know. Future Forum members may check out a
DVD
of
the program from our "Library."

Columbia and is one of the world's foremost string
theorists.
